I was talking to a colleague (we work for a Christian not-for-profit) and he had the great idea of having a million woman/girl march (with all our male friends who wanted to come!). We could march on behalf of women and girls around the world in order to : lobby the US government to give aid to more education, and pressure the international community diplomatically with the threat of sanctions against abusive nations. I have no idea how to pull this off, but I'm sure there are people who do. And I bet the celebrities will bring the news channels. What do you all think?

    I like the idea...

one thing I would like to avoid though is wrapping the whole thing in infantile PINK. i'm sick of women's events being reduced to a little girl's birthday party.

It's time women (or *people who care*) got together and showed what is possible. We have so much here in the states...and are getting side tracked with the inane news od CNN and FOX, who quite frankly, miss the real news.

The march has been done before so we can use this as a blue print for the event, avoiding the controversy of Farrakhan...

and get these women (still living) to speak out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Women%27s_Hall_of_Fame

This org would also have sympatico values:

i"m interested in helping...I think it can be done.

I like the idea too and would expand it to include men.

I was a freshman in college in Baltimore in 1969 and participated in the Vietnam Moratorium along with an estimated two million others. I would like to see that happen again for the human rights of women around the world.

I am not American, but I would fly to DC to be a part of a global event.

Actually a million woman march took place in Washington, D.C. in 2004, although it received little mainstream media attention:
