Have you heard about the Rafiki Club? Well, women from all over the world are given the opportunity to make a difference. The Rafiki club is a unique initiative by Project Africa that allows women from all corners of the earth get the opportunity to be empowered through global friendships.

Rafiki is a Swahili word that means friend. Joining members from different countries are paired with women in rural Kenya to start a letter exchange . Every time a woman in rural kenya receives a letter from her penpal she gets a chance to read, when she replies the letter she gets a chance to write thus learning literacy through telling her own stories.

Every letter in the rafiki club is used for literacy purposes in the adult literacy program for rural women. The program was Established by Project Africa which is a non Profit NGO working to empower women and girls in Rural Africa.

To become a rafiki, one only needs to fill up Rafiki Form from the Project Africa website www.projectforafrica.org and will be paired with a woman/women in rural Africa for correspondence.

you will be able to monitor the progress in literacy being made by the women. May be the first letter to you will only carry four words such as " My name is mama ..." But as the exchange of letter continues the ruarl women will improve from few words , to a paragraph to several paragraphs to several fullscaps of letters.

Education is Power, Friendship is POWER, Join the Rafiki Club and empower rural women with literacy.
