    I have heard the phrase "Women hold up half the sky" attributed to both a non-specific ancient Chinese proverb and also to Mao Zedong. Can anyone offer a firm citation for the origination for the phrase please? I promised my Asian Studies professor that I would continue to try and find one (even though I graduated last year). Thanks for any help!~

    It's a quote from Mao for sure. The idea that it is an "ancient Chinese proverb" is just a misconception.
